Hello again.

I figured that this time I would start working on a blog but this time take it a tad more seriously given the fact that I have been never really consistent in keeping a steady blog throughout the years. The thing is, I have very few things to say as far as opinion goes and frankly I find it that having a blog really just adds fuel to the fire of over opinion on some matters. But then again maybe I could have one that sort of focuses on something other than what I simply think (or think little of).

“Why Jekyll?”

My web hosting service has done something which I suspect is out of the interest of making more money given that it used to be more generous with the pricing offers in respect to the services and features they provided. But it seems that’s no longer the direction the company wants to make in order to be more profitable at the net.

So I think that’s made me figure that it’s a good a time as ever to look for leaner solutions to publish my thoughts and have my space to write my ideas.

Because Wordpress is a huge web-based content management system that requires PHP and a database, same goes for Anchor CMS, while PHP files are only used by GRAV, it’s still relatively slower than the performance of an already prepared static web page. And that is where Jekyll comes into play with allowing me to generate web pages statically. So no magic dynamically generated content to be found here. Just plain web pages, CSS, and JavaScript files. That’s about it.

Oh and of course it allows me to mess with Github Flavored Markdown - tee-hee!
